Baldur’s Gate 3 April 2024 Update: What You Need to Know

Baldur’s Gate 3, the beloved RPG from Larian Studios, has just received its April update, which is live across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

Here’s what you need to know about the latest update:

Key Takeaways
  • Focus on performance and stability across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Resolution of the Short Rest bug, cinematic crash, and improved Mac performance.
  • Larian Studios promises more features and stability improvements.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotfix #24 Update

Baldur’s Gate 3’s April update, known as Hotfix #24, enhances your gaming experience on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Released on April 4, 2024, this update focuses on improving the game’s performance and stability, ensuring players have a smoother experience.

Addressed Performance Issues and Bugs

The hotfix aims to iron out kinks that affected the game’s stability and performance, with special attention paid to a peculiar bug related to the Short Rest feature.

This bug prevented some players from taking a Short Rest under certain conditions, particularly when a character named Us was added and dismissed from the companion party before loading certain save games.

This issue has now been rectified, so players can enjoy uninterrupted gameplay.

Specific Fixes

The update has specifically addressed and resolved several issues:

  • A crash that occurred after a cinematic cutscene: This happened when transitioning from Act II to Act III. Such crashes can significantly disrupt gameplay, so fixing this enhances overall game stability.
  • Short Rest bug fixed: The aforementioned Short Rest bug, which hindered gameplay under specific conditions, has been fixed. Now, players can take Short Rests as intended without encountering the bug.
  • Us appearing at camp and other waypoints: An issue where Us appeared at camp and near other waypoints where it didn’t make sense has been corrected.
  • Performance on Mac improved: An issue introduced in Hotfix #21, which caused reduced performance on Mac, has been addressed. Mac players should now experience improved frames per second (FPS) and overall performance.

Looking Forward

While Hotfix #24 focuses on immediate fixes to enhance gameplay, players can look forward to more comprehensive updates in the future.

These future updates are expected to introduce new features and further stability improvements.

The latest update is part of Larian Studios’ ongoing commitment to refine and improve Baldur’s Gate 3, ensuring that players have the best possible experience as they explore the rich, detailed world of the Forgotten Realms.

As always, the development team encourages players to report any issues they encounter, promising more fixes and patches to come.
